Glueing PVC to Hypalon

Can someone tell me the correct way and type of glue to use in glueing a PVC patch ( name of boat is on the patch, not being used as a repair) to a Hypalon Tube.

John is exactly right, I have just had to re-glue a whole rubbing strake off a Scorpion 6.5 RIB using that process........oh joy!!

Hi All,

I have just bought my first 2nd hand RIB. It is a 2011 Stealth 4.2 m. One of the rear pontoons has a pin hole leak and a pretty average patch job done on both pontoons. I want to fix this by cutting the rear pontoon ends off, shortening this by about 150mm and attaching a conical end.

Will this work attaching hypalon to PVC, or does it have to be PVC - PVC.

Does anyone have an opinion on this and any tips.

Keep it simple...just patch the pin hole and enjoy boating. If the tube is PVC use PVC patch, if it's Hypalon use a Hypalon patch. No point in making a pinhole to a big project,
i don't think making /repairing cones are easy DIY jobs?

Good luck with the repair anyway.

So just to be clear, two coats of the PVC clue on the PVC surface and two costs of Hypalon glue on the Hypalon, then press together?

Not done PVC to Hyperlon myself....but for exclusive Hyperlon bonding there is usually quite a long "curing" process after adhesive is applied and it helps to "roughen or sand back" the surface ....when I but my wear patches on I applied the glue to them the day before so they were in fact touch dry.

Thanks Maximus, I've been glueing my hypalon patches with Bostik 4202 and it's been quite successful but about to glue on a PVC rubbing strake (this one). It certainly smells like it's probably PVC. It's got that new 1990s toy smell.
Anyway i want to make sure I do it right. I've got lots of the 4202 but sounds like that won't be all I need.

So it sounds like a cured coat of the hypalon adhesive on the hypalon and a cured coat of the PVC adhesive on PVC. Then PVC on both.

Yes Harry rubber , hypalon is primed by hypalon glue for PVC glue to stick to
