Spent some time reading about these, I still can't imagine how big they are.
To think a wave can sink a 260m ship like the MS Munchen Is amazing.

It did get me thinking though...Would a smaller boat with a much higher power to weight be better off? maybe a very large rib. might be able to climb up and over?

I was thinking he's gone a long way from Angola. Maybe gArFie's navigating for him.

10-15m isn't overly big but I guess if your sat beam on to it its not exactly ideal!

Though less dramatic than the Starboard shot above, for me the real telling shot is the Port one!
Seems like it's very rare, but if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time (Offshore, not Inshore Reef Break ) don't think it makes much difference what you are in!
A perfect example is the time Alan Priddy was headed up to Iceland in Aug.2004. Fine big well proven RIB (whole story here on RIBnet)
If i can be so bold,i thought the piece he wrote about that time was very-good.

Smacks for the lazy Irish Times Editor there I'm afraid. The wave in question was recorded by the M4 weather buoy - so quite a distance offshore.

Mr Priddy can be very entertaining
