RIBase
What width is it? Artic is probably the only option but that could be affected by width/wide load permits.

Tow it with a Landrover - if you have a suitable trailer.

If not there is a bloke in Swansea who does boat deliveries all over Europe - he has a few big trailers and uses a LR110 with a tacho fitted!!! Can't remember his name but he owns a shop called the Captain's Cabin - 01792 363448. He seemed fairly good on price but of course he would have to come all the way to Southampton first - then again it's closer for him on the return journey!!!

There is a commerical ferry from Heysham to Belfast or Larne can't quite remember. Think the last time I took a Rib on the Stranraer / Belfast or Larne routes (2002) it was about £160 incl the Disco but that may have been a discounted price.

Or if you can get it to the North West someone like Dave Mallet could drive it across if its running. Nauti Bouy might have a suitable trailer for hire Rogue wave does towing jobs too.

could be arranged if ya get it to Fleetwood marina- as long as its not so rough as the last time I went over in a rib as just a passenger. As my esteemed captain said it will get calmer near the isle of man- didnt tell me he meant for just 5 minutes followed by hours of considerably rougher . But a big redbay's suspension seats are truly a bonus on a day like that and it was a very very nice rib Mike!

Well for the price of a couple of airfares from St. John's Charles, plus the petrol, I'm sure Laura and I could take her to Bangor for you.

On a slighly more practical note why not contact Mike Deacon. I know he had his 10m transported to Inverkip for the Hebrides cruise some years back. I have a feeling he used a caravan transporter!

This is what we thought we might end up doing.

Don't really want to involve ferries etc, as this will mean having to bring the trailer and vehicle back again.

Well, you and Laura certainly know the rib well enough Al!

Dikkie, what's the story with Stoo and trailer towing etc? Is there any connection with him doing 'Round Britain' with his Camel rib although the boat hardly leaving the trailer

Hi Charles,
Is it for mechanical/logistical reasons you cannot bring it home by sea or fear factor? I brought my P22 home to Strangford from Holyhead( 70ish NM) by sea and if you pick your weather it shouldn't present too many problems. In 1998 it cost £400 to transport from Lymington to Holyhead and £60 to crane into the water- they even have a marina now. Easy connection Dublin - Holyhead ferry.Irish Sea is most expensive stretch of water in Europe to cross and to get someone else to do it is going to cost in the region of £1000- £1200. If you can't do it that way I would recommend the Liverpool-Belfast route and try to go on the day sailing as it's cheapest on a single journey with trailer. I've used them 5 or 6 times last year bringing purchases home but by far the most memorable way is by yourself with friends and a backup aux. Alternatively speak with Ken at Boathaul based in Donaghadee- very helpful and always coming and going to the South Coast. Hope that helps.

I would think not! Time is a big factor as well as other considerations.
