Gel Coat Repairs

With all this talk of GRP repairs and hole filling, I would like to ask the panel how is the best way to fill those annoying little chips that you get on hulls and consoles. Usually on the edges.

I have read that you clean the chip/edges with acetone, and mix the Gelcoat with the pigment on wide sellotape on the hull to get the colour absolutely correct and after that you can just remove the tape with noting left.

Is this correct, any other tips? Where is the best place to buy a Gelcoat pigmentation kit around the Southampton area?

Thanks in advance

Toby
