Gecko Helmets

I am considering purchasing a Gecko helmet. I am wondering which type of visor would you recommend?

We bought two recently and following some research and advice we decided on half face rather than full - due to:

1. Full face obscures vision when lifted
2. Full face can get steamed up

No idea how true the above are - but the half face performs fine, doesn't steam up and still keeps us dry

They are cracking helmets, really pleased and we purchased ours through Malthouse - good price and quick delivery from within the UK so no worries re Import Duty.

Good luck - the hardest part was choosing the colour!!!

TSM is in Ireland, so it may be advantageous to miss the UK out in the delivery process.

They are great, I certainly would agree that the half visor is quite up to the job. I am about to replace mine and am debating getting a 25% tint....

I went for two of the full face visors helmets.
Also bought two 1/2 face visors for the summer.

The reason I went for full face was it kept the cold weather away from all the face ..

Not got Geckos, Gath instead. We have half face and full face visors as we found the half face still gave some of the 'rice fired from a cannon' effect in driving rain

Ive had a Gecko helmet for the last 18 months and yes it is a great bit of kit keeps the ears warm. I went for the half face screen but regret not getting the full face screen.

My face still gets cold due to not having the full screen. One of the other good things about the helmet is when you hit a wave that knocks you sideways it protects your head should you fall against a hard section of the Rib

Get a full face screen is my advice

Steve

Also you can inflate the inner lining for a nice snug fit.
Stops it from feeling loose and does keep your head warm.
So it will fit all .

And fully washable.
And spares are no problem should you need any single item to be replaced.

Have two of them for many years, in one word perfect.
Full face visors don't get steamed up if they adept to the temperature. Moreover you can use a spray to prevent that happen. It also makes the water runs easy from the outside.
So full face for when it realy gets wet and cold.

All four of us have them and use full face visors.

Ours are all used ones I've picked up from ebay etc, and are all the older pre-inflatable liner type.
Mine and Mrs Nashers are Black ex-special forces, and the smaller Nashers have ex RNLI White ones.
All of them I have converted to Visor type by adding the poppers myself.

They took a bit of cleaning up, and the Visors from Gecko were more than I paid for the helmets, but we wouldn't be without them now.
In colder temperatures or rain they make the boating experiance so much more comfortable, and eliminate the thousands of needles feeling of rain on the face and eyes at speed.

I've even personalised Mine and the Smaller Nashers with hand cut graphics.

Nasher.

A disadvantage:
In use with a Gill jacket the helmet fits inside the big collar and in havy rain water drips inside the jacket from the helmet and you get very wet. Now I use the yellow cap inside the collar and put it over the helmet to prevent that.

Bruce - much better than direct from Gecko even taking into account full face - makes you realise what a great network RIbnet offers Malthouse did a cracking job and they arrived the day after paying - I spent the day pottering around the house wearing a large orange helmet () - could''nt hear a damn thing until I realised the ears popped out

Would you like me to start a list

Priceless

Bogi - that looks neat and I suspect cheaper/better value than the Gecko version - was it easy to do??
