Fuel tanks and an Avon console

Hi guys,

I have an SR4 which has what appears to be a standard console. I want to replace my fuel tanks and wondered what you guys had found to be a good fit under the console ?

Cheers,

Barry

I have an SR4 with a centre console an a HULK 30 litre is a perfect fit inside it. The front hatch aperture has to be widened and another hatch made up but other than that it is bang on.

Yeah, those consoles are (were?) designed round the old metal 5 gallon tanks that came with every outboard, only the logo on the tank & the fuel fitting used to change.

I have the same problem on my Humber - under the seat any 22L wil fit. To get a 30L in I'd need to cut fibreglass.

Thanks guys,

My console looks to be the same design as Nic's but is older and a lovely shade of faded orange I have a couple of elderly Plastimo 22L tanks, one of which fits well, however the fuel guages are so opaque as to be unreadable and they look like they have seen better days.

The ebay tank looks a good price.

Thanks again,

Barry

There's an argument with these portable tank fuel gauges that says they are so inaccurate that it doesn't really matter whether you can see them or not!
