Thanks

Ollie

From there the nearest would be Salterns Marina, however it is by far the most expensive in the area.

Next you have Parkstone Bay Marina which has a fuel point.

There used to be a floating fuel station in the middle of Poole harbour but thats long gone now and a few people had issues with the quality of that fuel.

There is a fuel place opposite pool quay.

And another fuel place at Cobbs Quay Marina which would be cheaper than Salterns even at normal prices I expect. If your berthed at Cobbs Quay Marina as in a member of MDL marinas you get fuel at cost which adds up to a considerable saving if you use your boat alot.

I dont know of any others but there must be I would have thought, it might be wise to phone a few and check prices.

All the fuel in the harbour is considerably more expensive than the local petrol stations - cheapest on water is Yarmouth IOW - but not practical unless you are passing.

Best bet is invest in couple or more 25 litre plastic Jerry cans & use the petrol stations. Get a wide bore jiggle tube

For quick spill free transfer to the boat tank.

What longjohn said. Yarmouth is only slightly more than a regular forecourt sometimes. You are not allowed to refuel in the RMYC Haven - so we often drift in the lee of Brownsea or somewhere else quiet and use a jiggle tube to refuel, takes very little time

Thanks for advise, my only concern is getting caught carrying a lot of fuel in my car, believe you are only allowed to carry up to 10 litre? being a relatively young driver (20) the police like a reason to teach us a lesson! + As mentioned no fuelling allowed in the club which is a pain but I understand there reasoning! think salterns is my best bet, I am off to cowes week with the boat so will stop by at Yarmouth for fuel when passing!

*I can understand their point as boaters catching fire whist refuelling is a massive problem here in the UK! So much so they don't even bother reporting it in the press anymore

(* not strictly true)

More the fact it's just messy, more ends up in the water then in the tank which isn't pleasant especially as during the summer they have events that ends up with kids swimming in the haven.

I always refuel in the yard

other option is to trailer the boat to a petrol station - I do that if fuelling up for a long trip but haven't done it for a while.

Ended up going to salterns, paying about 1.50 a litre so not the worst and very little hassle in and out in 10 mins!

Thanks for the tip! Mine has just arrived in the post. Bought the 3/4" one and it seems to work really fast.
