As per everyone else's comments what a great project and it didn't come easy as the bandaged hand showed us but the end product looks fantastic.

Where did you get the centre console from and was the a frame custom made?

Thanks for al the comments guys, very kind.

The bandaged hand was post grinder / hand interface, a careless tired mistake through bad hurried practice. 4 hours wait in casualty, a long day that one.

The console was made for me by Simon Wood-Power at Ross Smith Marine Lymington, I think it suits the boat well and the 'domestic' storage is worth its place alone.

The arch was custom made by Ed O'Kane, a local freelancer whose details I would be happy to pass on. Ed made it up from a really rough sketch that I did for him.

Hello there,

It is screwfix carpet protection film, it stayed in place for the whole process and peeled off more or less clean at the end of the job. Caveat being that nowhere on the labels did it say it would!

Hi, Antislip is rolled in gel with sprinkled bird sand. Non slip but not massively abrasive!

Is bird sand soft? Or just normal sand that's dried and treated?
I found to my cost that if you ever need to re do a floor that's done with sand you can't remove it even with a grinder it's very difficult
I was told either use sawdust with flowcoat or the proper flowcoat with plastic chips in

Hi,

I took advice on this, the bird sand is so called because it is the stuff you get from pet shops to put in the bottom of the cage.

It is a white sand with small shell pieces mixed in. We put it in a plastic cup with holes punched in it to make a shaker. Rolled out gel, shook over sand, rolled over gel. It gave a decent non slip finish without being too aggressive but could I reckon be sanded out with 60 grit paper.

I am happy enough with it, cant comment on the other ways of doing it, this is the only one I tried so far!

Was it your plan to redo the whole floor when you got it? Was it noticeably rotten? Or did you find that later?

I knew the deck was poor but underestimated the job of replacing it. Then at every step I found that things were worse than I could have imagined, for example, fuel tank was ruptured and the foam that held it in was petrol and water soaked.

Also what surprised me but shouldn't have done, was the price of repair over replacement.

Finally, once it became apparent that I would have to sink everything I had into the project (and more) then I wanted to end up with a boat that was an improvement on the original.

Yeah makes perfect sense. Visually it didn't look all that bad when ya got it. Looks ain't everything! But hey may as well do it proper if your gonna do it at all.
