For all you DIY'ers

If you could turn back the clock....

What would you have done differently with your build, anything you would change ?

I'll get the ball rolling

- Mounted Tranducer in the Hull from day 1.
- Run some spare cables through the Aframe in case of changes or additions at a later date.
- Fitted Trim Tabs straight out
- Fitted a higher screen and stainless surround.

All things that I sorted out later on but it would have been much easier (and cheaper) to have got it right in the first place

Bigger under deck trunking - I've just replaced my co-ax cables and ended up having to cut a hole in my deck for more access

And if I knew then what I know now, probably wouldn't have gone for Optimax's

I'd make a larger "ditch" at the stern for deck water to collect in before getting pumped out. I like my Ribcraft but if there's open thing I don't like its water running around my feet (of course its unavoidable sometimes in a big sea)

I'd have stuck with Lowrance electronics instead of Raymarine. In future I would buy the hull & engines separately & rig them myself, despite the price difference in buying a "package".

Not tried to do it with a new baby in the house!

On a more serious note, probably got one with a bigger console.

Lowrance plotter so I could add structure scan at half the price
Argued more with Roy that yes I did need a bilge pump
All-roller trailer not the roller bunk model

Not much else really, a good season on I am still very happy
