1967 LWB S2, never got it on the road but annoyed the neighbours (it was an ex-breakdown recovery truck and painted BRIGHT orange!) and then 1972 S3 SWB. Great fun while it lasted.
A number of years later by a quirk of fate ended up working at LR for 18 months after Ford bought 'em. Two Disco company cars best of the bunch being a Td5 XS, would've bought it when I left but they wanted too much dosh for it.
The addage that people buy LR's despite the build quality rather than because it is sadly true however things ARE improving. (The died in the wool landy fans who make rude comments about Ford don't know what they are talking about as Ford quality is streets ahead of where LR were and Ford is pretty mediocre! Now theres a contraversial statement for you
Wanted a Defender tomb raider but put my sensible head on (doing 20k+ miles p.a.) and bought a Trooper instead. Not a Landie but bloody well built, very capable and with a fantastic diesel engine!
Enough on cars, back to RIBs!
