On Sunday, 15th September over 30 aircraft will fly over the City and Port of Dublin as part of "The Gathering Ireland 2013". The aircraft will fly over Dublin Port and up over the River Liffey as far as the Customs House. They will be flying at a minimum height of approximately 245m (800ft). The sustained flypast over Dublin Port and Dublin City will commence at 14:00 hrs and take two hours to complete. The flights will be sequenced at five minutes intervals.
That part of the river that lies between the Eastlink Bridge and the Samuel Beckett Bridge has been identified as a "Ditching Area" for the small single aircraft should the need arise. This area is therefore designated as an "Exclusion Zone" for all vessels other than Authorised and Rescue craft. The Garda Water Unit will be in place to ensure that no unofficial craft gain entry to the exclusion zone.
All leisure craft planning to visit Dublin Port for this event should familiarise themselves with all of the Dublin Port Company "Notices to Mariners", especially No’s 9 & 12 along with the Leisure Craft Guidelines available at the following links. Notice to Mariners Leisure Craft Guidelines
This notice is self-cancelling.
Captain David T. Dignam
Harbour Master.
30th August 2013 ...?
