I've got both, and luckily never used either in anger, the laser looks good but no real idea how good.
As for the flares, if it hit the fan I think a launch from the bow would be safe and the chances are there's plenty of water to throw it in if it goes wrong

Large flares can be dangerous on an open boat at speed for the passenger sat behind! Therefore, I would recommend drainpipes or even bellbottoms

I have an inshore pack that I carry in the case it was supplied in for the reasons others have stated. Not sure when it expires, but you can't buy them off the shelf here and with the issues/cost with hazardous ocean freight I think I'll be getting a laser flare next time round and forget the explosives. If nobody is looking (which is most likely anyway) then I've got a PLB, which is the primary device anyway.

Smokes can't be replicated by lasers, which are less useful in daylight a couple of hand smokes and a couple of signal flares is not an explosion risk.

LAsers are a good idea but i wouldn't want to rely on just that.....

Although this U Tube video was made by Kayakers in conjunction with the Coastguard..Im sure some of you will find it interesting and informative. I know I did. Apologies if its been posted before..its a couple of years old now.

The coastguard agreed to assist the making of the full length video.. on the condition a shortened version was made free to anyone who wished to see it
This is the free shortened version..and if you have not seen it before..its worth watching

Hello, I have found only one offer on amazon.co.uk for 100 GBP.

Is it really so expensive ? Or it is just something new and within few month price shall be lower ?

Nice item, thanks for suggestion
