Flag Pole

A local boat yard/butcher put a flag pole on my boat last week and its bloody awfull

A great big wooden thing, looks just a little out of place on the boat and to cap it all off it has pulled the screws out of the gel coat on my first outing, real quality job...........

Not prepared to let them do any more damage so thought I would do the work myself. Does anybody know where I can get a modern, slick looking metal flag pole that I can mount on the stern of my RIB? Also I assume the best method of attaching will be with ?silka flex? and self tapping screws?

I may now be the best handy man but at least I will be careful when doing the work.

Have you got an a-frame if so you can get brackets to bolt on to the frame and you don't have to be a boat builder to do it you may have to drill a hole or two.

I'm going to be needing a flag pole the length of my boat to hold the flag Mark H bought me! I'll watch this thread with interest....

The rib I did my RYA II in had the top end of a carbon fibre dinghy mast as it's flag pole.. Nice and light, and very flexible.. And cheap..

I think I remember seeing something metal, looking like a flag pole, in the Marine Super Store at Port Solent - but it could have been Aladins Cave on the 'Hamble'. Sorry so vague and I'm not sure what the fittings were like or whether it had Nav lights fitted to it. I do remember they came in different sizes!!!

The one shown here cost about £15-20 custom made to bolt to the side of the A frame.

The pole was just a small bespoke one made by the local boatyard for about £15-20 to the sketch I gave them. Surely the nearest marina will be able to do the same?
The coastline is off the summer Isles and the cave is called conservation cove, you can just make out the divers about to dive in. There are even better ones further north!
