Fitting stainless seat frames.

Hi can anyone tell me if you can tap and die the deck of an Osprey Eagle to fit a seat base... Help please cheers Nigel :-)

Grind, screw, glass.

1 Drill over size holes, depth and diameter.

2 Fill with epoxy resin.

3 Sand smooth

4 Drill holes on epoxy for the screw.

5 Screw frame plate to boat.

Doug, Not one to scare monger. But would this not be brittle and just rip clean out under any force/ lateral movement,

Knowing eagles from previous experience the floor will be pretty soft due to having a foam filled deck,, Any water in there over many years past acts like a sponge,
To be honest if it was me I would want a large base and many screws/ silkaflex also,

If hollow in middle of base I would put 100mm inspection hatch there and nut bolt with large repair washers through the deck for guaranteed safety , will have to pull out some foam but it's easy enuff

Or screw and glass in a section of plywood on top of deck to base dimensions. Easier route and will work fine

Been watching this and I need to jump in, don't screw them down, they will rip up, there, you need to get below the floor to put plates underneath.

The Eagle isn't kept at home this is the only photo I've got until the weekend.

Round inspection hatch under Neath the base of seat area
and you can slide plates or flat lengths of stainless plate to nut n bot accordingly

Yep round hatch, I've also set the jigsaw up at an angle and cut a round hole and then used it as a plug, couple of layers of matt over the hole and press the original bit back in, when dry sand down and then matt over it job done

In theory yes but,, the up side is going to cut into the deck, (U). if it was the other way round yep

Need a largish hole to drop in but can be silka flex afterwards or gel,

Best bet is inspection hatch trust me ,,,
