Fishing spots in the solent /poole bay

Hey everyone,

Now I've got the rib all set up and had a few trips out with the wife I feel it's time to get my boat rods out and leave the wife onshore!

So being new to the area and reading a few websites and these forums I have come up with a few spots to give a try! I was reading about black bream in Poole bay from what I've read it sounds like great fun!

So I plan to go out probably on the 4th of may for for some fishing! I just need to figure out where to go and if I should anchor or drift..

These are the spots I have come across, are they any good ?

West leape
East leape
Christchurch ledge
Bramble bank
Old Harry rocks

Also never fished from a rib before so could be interesting keeping the hooks away from the tubes!! Any tips?

Hi

If you want to save yourself a bit of fuel the summertime fishing can be good in the Harbour between brownsea island and sandbanks, my mate fishes in front of the brownsea island jetty area quite a bit and has success with bream and small bass there, failing that areas like poole patch - just off branksome beach, and also sole fishing off Southbourne beach can be good.

May last year I did a bit of drift fishing around poole patch and had some large smooth hound, rays, gurnard, mackerel and bream.

Good luck
