Now there's only 2 of us going (this saturday 20th April), purely for fishing (no scuba diving) so have space if anyone wants to join us. Leaving Poole and 0730 and launching at Portland 0900. Planning to get back to Poole about 6 ish. PM me if you're interested. Could take 2 more. (4 in total)

No this one was caught on rod and line. I've never heard or seen a lobster caught on a fishing rod before. The lobster had eaten the sandeel and hook but hadn't managed to break the line. When I first saw it in the water I thought it was a bit of the wreck he had lifted. Couldn't believe it when I netted it.

I was wearing a drysuit but that was to stay dry launching and recovering at Baiter slipway which in my opinion must be one of the most useless slipways in the country.

Not to say I wouldn't attempt to pick up the odd one on scuba in this country though!

I also caught one on a rod. The hook got wedged under the front of its carapace. Sadly it was the one time I didn't have a landing net with me and I couldn't lift it out of the water. Hook pinged off and I lost it. Big bast as well.

Catching a lobster using rod and line is more common place than you'd think.
