First spin in the salt

Itís been a couple of weeks since weíve been out due to weather etc so took the opportunity today to get a run up and down the coast.
The forecast 10-12 mph southerly seemed considerable fresher and we were greeted by a short 4 to 6 foot chop upon leaving Kilkeel. It was also quite overcast with visibility of around a mile.
After a bit of indecision we decided to run up Carlingford lough to Warrenpoint for a coffee before making our way back for a mooch around Annalong harbour.
The lough itself afforded us some shelter but outside it was a different beast.
Apart from a few small issues it was an enjoyable day out and Iím really starting to enjoy the Xs rib as my confidence in it grows.

Good to hear from a fellow Armachian and ribster.

There are some lovely boating areas in that neck of the woods. I have done a fair bit on the north coast over to the Isles and back. Great memories.

Have a good season.

Thanks Jonathan, service and a rewire next. IOM trip for a race TT also on the wish.
Iím for the north coast with the family in July and hope to get some exploring done. Id love to do Staffa and fingals cave but itís probably a bit much for a day trip.
Hopefully see you afloat soon

Long enough run in a day.
I run to Tobermorey, which is as far in one day as i like.
Plenty of B&B's, hotels, pubs and eateries, and refuel at marine.
That leaves a full day for Staffa, Fadda then through Iona Sound and through Islay Sound past Port Askaig and then the long run home.
Gives you plenty of time for stop offs as there is a lot to see on the way.
ps Happy Motoring,

Thanks, that sounds like a better idea and a great way to spend a few days .

I occasionally fish out of a marina on the coast road with a few mates, I do believe I may have been admiring your fine vessel last time I was there.

Not likely unless you stray very far south and a tad east. My stomping ground is South Devon, mainly the Dartmouth area. I see you are an engineer so a rewire should be no problem. If you need any advice, let me know, as that is my field.
