First Rib

I'm looking for a rib to base in the Isles of Scilly. We holiday there 4/5 times a year and I want something there to have some fun with but also get me round the islands and out to watch Dolphins etc.

It'll be stored in a boat yard between visits.

I don't want to spend a fortune, perhaps £6k, and it only needs to seat 2 preferably side by side.

Any suggestions?

Without being up close and personal with them its hard to tell.

Ex MOD. Some have had a hard life. These don't look too shoddy, but might have picked their photos carefully.

Second one has no trailer. That feels pricey for the double jockey although it would be nice to have.

No engines on either. You'll struggle to engine and trailer the £4k+ boat for your budget.

Neither is seating 2 side by side.

My gut feeling - keep looking ;-)

Have a look through the RIB section on here, some interesting stuff & we're now into the time of year when a lot more boats will come onto the market & prices drop:

As with everything, you MUST view them & if you aren't sure what you're looking at then get someone who does to go with you. If in any doubt walk away.
Don't forget there are a lot of scammers so be wary.
(I wouldn't necessarily disregard some of the hardboats either - you might find more with the side by side seating you want)

What sort of conditions will you go out in? E.g. Do you get to pick the week(end) to optimise the weather or do you have to plan ahead and the make the most of the conditions you get?

Thanks for all the info so far.

I've happend across a nice Sr4 that is already based in the Scillies. It could offer me the ideal solution.

Did you get sorted? We keep our RIB on Bryher with Dan Bennett - I can thoroughly recommend him. Having the RIB has given us so much more flexibilty for our holidays.
