First rib

Hi,

Just looking for some feedback regarding what will be my first rib.
I will be using it mainly for spearfishing and maybe to take the family for a ride once in a while. This is all new:

Humber Assault 4.5m, with bow locker, stand up console and steering, 2 stainless steel grab handles on the sides of console, boat cover heavy duty fitted - £3108

Tohatsu 2 stroke 50 hp, long shaft, with cables and control box - £2395

Trailer EZ Loader 1225 with 12 rollers - £645

Total - £ 6148

What do you think ?

Thanks,

Nuno Canteiro

RIBCRAFT

www.ribcraft.co.uk

IMHO they are much better built. I used to own a 4.3 humber assault - dont get me wrong she was a tough old boat and i had a great time in her - but if you compare the details and build quality of the humbers against ribcraft there is no contest.

they do a 4.2 and a 4.8

go see jason at the ribcraft factory and have a look round at the guys building the boats.

then try and leave without placing an order. ( i couldnt )

better still get to the southampton boat show and get a ride in one next month.

The Price of a Ribcraft is considerably higher than that of a humber probably nearer to double. Your selection does not have much in the way of seats this might be a problem as you bounce your nippers out of the rib

You seem to want to buy new and I guess humber are the cheapest option they are not bad boats

I'm not bothered with finish, also the Humber is quite cheaper compared with Ribcraft and other makes, at the moment they're doing a 30% discount which is hard to resist. Regarding not having any seating at all, well the boat will be used as a transport for spearfishing, I would not go out to sea when it's rough because visibility would be poor and not pratical for diving. Unlike some of you that have boats for fun, for me it's mainly a transport to catch fish.

Hi again,
I hope the EZ 1225 trailer is suitable as i have just read the spec and it states 14ft as the max carrying length when in fact your new rib @ 4.5m is close to 15ft long!!

EZR trailer

Yes you're right, I have got in touch with the suppliers for the EZR trailers and they have suggest the 14-17 foot 1250 trailer instead.
I've been quoted £645 with jockey wheel, winch, 12 rollers and oil bath bearings.

Cheers,

Humber 4.5m

Hi,

My Humber will have red tubes and white hull and console. Dark colours for the tubes require special valves at £150 extra. I'm having the sports console but without any seating at all. They're fitting a bulkhead in the mould to change the console into a stand up console. My boat is mainly for spearfishing and seating is not required. I'm having also the bow locker, GRP cable trunking and a fitted heavy duty boat cover.

Regards,
