What an awesome boat.
If it does over 70, which I doubt (even though it at least appears to have fine parentage) then it's very awsome.
I would have guessed at the 65 you're currently running, which is very respectable.
How are you measuring the speed, or more importantly, how was the 74 measured?

Dan, don't be so modest - watching you eat is worthy of a feature length documentary, never mind one picture

Dan, why don't you put your fridge in the anchor locker and chuck out the lead piping? no sorry that's a silly idea that would be too heavy.

Where the Tohatsus one design around the racing scene whilst you were still involved ( for that matter had ribs been invented?) if they were can you recall what kind of speeds they used to get.

what does a Phantom Evo clock with a Opti 225 and a three blade prop?

would a three blade to 4 blade prop make a difference in speed of that much and if so do you gain or lose some of the Hole shot!

Nice boat by the way Wayne you must be very proud, let us know how the opti behaves fuel wise

I thought you would gain acceleration and lose top speed, but I'm only trying to remember what Daniel's book said!

From How Propellors Work by Mercury Marine:
"Number of Blades... As blades are added, efficiency decreases. Nearly all racing propellers are presently either three- or four-bladed."

"In recent years, with the growing frequency of propellers being run at an increased height (surfaced), four- and five- bladed props havebecome more popular. They suppress the higher level of vibration and improve acceleration by putting more blade area into the water. They can also help to make the rake more effective in lifting the bow of the boat for added speed."

Yeah, the EVO does just shy of 70 with a 225 opti, 69 to be precise, but one must remember that thats when it's set up perfectly (by Neil) and driven to the absolute limit, also by someone who knows the set up well and has the skill to extract the best from it.

This is why such casual statements about very high speeds is anoying (to me at least) as it misleads people and lessens the significance of such performance, and the work and knowledge that goes into achieving it.

I must be fatter, or less willing, than you because it did an absolute max of 50 MPH when I was driving it!

Yes I was very dissapointed with the poor performance you put in whilst driving my boat in the poker run. Not many peope are fatter than me so I guess it wasn't a weight issue

Have met him a few times, very down to earth, talks to anyone, that inc me!!!

Jesus Rouge something we agree on!!

If the boat is the one I think it was at JBT it does go fast, in excess of 70mph.

I nearly brought that cabin rib!!!
Nice bunch of people at JBT.
