its a mercury 1980 three pot , the 50 60 & 70 are the same bar the jets

1980 makes it a blueband?
Had one of those 50's years ago, great engine and was a 4 cylinder. The bottom one is kind of in the bottom clamshell if memory serves.

the 40 & 50 four pot have four plugs , the 50 60 &70 three pot have three plugs !!

You probably dont know this but Davie is one of the biggest outboard dealers in UK, if he says it won't fit it would be worth treble checking before you buy them.
