I'll enquire. It'll be a 225HO which would be mental on a 6.5.

Jim.

If I was home I'd have bought it, put it on my 5.5, sold the 115 and bought a 4x4 with the change!

Perhaps the owner used the Ribnet Depreciation Calculator. Give it another month and he'll be offering a grand to anyone that'll take it away.

Well i actually think this shows how much we are normally robbed when buying a new outboard.chr-st you can buy a brand new car for 6 grand. But i do realise it would look pretty stupid on the back of a searider or Ospray

There not etecs, and there not in the over 200 class, but the local dealer here just cut the prices, for all their under 30hp Suzuki's, by 50% over what they were at the beginning of summer.

This now makes them cheaper than 4 & 5 year old used models on the market here. They are all 2008 models.

Makes one wonder, just what kind of mark up these guys are putting on their motors in the show rooms. I always knew they ripped us off on anything with the word boat in the name, but ...

This is completely true, my two Etec 90s use ALMOST twice as much as an Optimax 90.....

yes,
a 300 E-TEC uses twice the fuel of an 115 Opti ;-)

That would be around £300 for a DF4. Is that true?

There were no DF2.5, DF4, or DF5's there. I don't know if they were also included in the sale, and were already sold, or if there weren't in the sale.

I suspect they were not. In Germany under a 5hp, you don't need a license, and they generally cost a premium, often almost as much for a 5hp as a 9.9hp cost.

There were DF6 – DF25's, I was back a week later and all were gone. The DF6 was about 660 Euros or about £535.

They now have new ones, at normal prices.

Funny, but as more and more motors are made in China, the profit margin has risen considerable, but until now the prices have not come down for us.

It is also funny that you are the first person that has replied to my question about the normal profit margin for these motors, although I have asked it on a half dozen forums.. There seems to be some “mafia” type industry secrecy surrounding this topic.

This price information is readably available for the motorcycle and auto industry, but the boat industry is anything but transparent.

They say they are having a hard time selling the motors because of the world economic situation, but it seems in most cases they would rather just sell less but at a higher "Chinese style" profit, than to reduce the price a little and sell more. This is the first time I have seen such a sale.
