Equipment Pouch

I have been searching the net as I want some sort of pouch (clear would be nice) that I can fix to my steering console on the rib to put things like my mobile phone and wallet etc in. I am having problems searching because I don't know what they would be properly called.

Anyone got any links or know the name of this item

Thanks

Dennis

Waterproof iPad case? I bought a couple from Aldi cheap big enough to store a few items in and come with a lanyard.

Like this was about £10

This is what I think I will adapt and use. Very good and very cheap cos it is not boating related

In what way would you adapt it?

It certainly wont be waterproof and those zips and buckles wont last 2 mins in a salt water environment.

Why not put a small cargo net on side of console and put items in zippy poly pockets.

No this is perfect. It will not be left on the boat. I will make some hooks for it and just hook it on and off.

I don't think leaving it on board in the rain was the concern...

Most of the water on my boats comes from waves not rain... Waves that happen when I'm underway...

That would be salty waves.

What are you putting in it?

I wouldn't even have that in a reasonably water tight locker on a rib!

It's not a pouch and it's not clear change of spec then?
Possibly called man bag

So do all the zips rust on the cloths that you wear when you go boating. Or do you pay silly prices and only wear cloths from a marine store. Been boating for many years and havnt had any zips rust yet

Presumably you wash your clothes though? It’s not rust that usually kills zips (but poppers and clips can be) but what I assume is aluminium oxide and some sort of corrosion that leaves the metal really brittle.

That bag looks like it will be quite an effective sponge so a nightmare to dry - but it’s your money.

Yup my money all £7 of it. It will work very well for what I want it for

I have the zips on the bags I keep gear in (bag never leaves dry land) go, as soon they start to go a little that's it game over.......

I have bought a supposedly waterproof rucksack from oxford design for motorbikes has a roll top and plastic clips, it's first trip was not a success and it was in a locker in the console of a friends boat.....Aqua V 20 Backpack Fluro : Oxford Products

Would this one be ideal? DryStash T45 : Oxford Products

I suspect it won't actually, for the reasons that other people have already given. Personally I'd rather put the £7 towards something fit for purpose, but it's obviously your call. Let us know how you get on

I have one of those. This is for a particular location to fit in a place. That is why the one I have bought is ideal. Of course it is going to act like a sponge, Leak like a sieve and rust and disintegrate in the first 10 seconds which will result in North Korea doing a first strike and the end of the world. Never mind

Dennis

Give yourself a shake man!

An attitude like that will get you feck all help in the future.

You asked the question, the members gave you their opinion, but you know better.

You can lead a horse to water....
