Eddystone lighthouse
Has anyone been out to the Eddystone lighthouse which is c13m from Plymouth? - if so where is the best place to launch, I'm guessing Plymouth or is there a better alternative?

I've launched Plymouth each time we've been. Looe is also an option but restricted tidal slipway I think.
Dartmouth / Salcombe / Brixham will also be an option, depends how long a run you fancy?
If you're coming down the M5 might as well go to Plymouth for ease and shortish run.

I've done it from Fowey a few times.
Don't go anywhere near it alone-you need someone in the bow spotting rocks. For that reason as well, if you're very curious and want to get closer, don't go anywhere near it unless it's flat calm!

We always done it from Mount Batten, pick up divers from Fort Bovisand (we usually use the posh caravans nearby)
As others have said do it on a calm day, we nipped out at 35 knots, as did others so it was quite busy.

Is that one of the lighthouses that gets washed over by waves?
Are there shipwrecks to dive on? Or is it like California shipwrecks where the 10 meter waves shred everything?

It is a nice spot for diving as the lighthouse sits on a big pile of rocks dropping to 40m, crawing with crabs and awash with fish.
