I think it will be a good day out.

Looking at the stand layouts there are quite a few boats that haven't been at UK boat shows before and it looks like there are plenty of chandlery/accessory type stands.

Also things like Royal Navy and Ice Rinks for a bit of extra entertainment.

Should be good..

P.S Not saying this because we are exhibiting, genuinely quite excited about it.

Is it best to pre pay for tickets or just turn up and pay on the door?
Thanks
Tony
(We are going on Sat 8th)

Definitely best to pre-pay as I think the online tickets are £12.00, against £16.00 on the door.

Which one's better though - the London Boat Show at Excel in January or the Earls Court show in December?

I missed Southampton and would like to look at some SIBs/RIBs.

Hi Tony
I'd love to go but unfortunately work has to come first at this time of the year!
I might ask you to blag a few brochures though in our quest for a RIB once we've shifted our current boat.....! ;-)
Have fun - think of us who will have our nose to the grindstone.....!

Anybody else get niffed at the £1.50 "processing charge" on top of the £12 advanced booking price meaning you only save 50p and are reccomended to print out the ticket your self!

Just reaslised the door price is £16, I had 14 in my head but I'm not an oap yet! I still reckon charging £1.50 to print out your own ticket is poor...

I went to Earls Court yesterday, and I reckon it's got the makings of a great show. It's not as squeaky clean and polished as the "real" London Boat Show, but it's none the worse for that.

The lack of massive stands from the likes of Sunseeker makes Earls Court 2 feel like a much more welcoming place. There was a really good atmosphere there and a lot of enthusiasm.

There are a lot more powerboats than you would normally see at a boat show, with Round Britain 2008 and Formula 4-stroke having large stands. Some great vidoes to watch too!

You should be aware that the show is nothing like as big as previous shows at Earls Court, with lots of elbow room everywhere and next to nothing upstairs on the balcony level. I probably wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic if I had paid £16 to get in, but you can buy on line for £12 (plus an extra £1.50 per booking).

Given that this has been organised from a standing start in just 12 months, the organisers have achieved a huge amount. I would be very surprised if there aren't more big names there next year.

John
