Jon, yep you need an operators ticket, this can be done either by a one day course or if you confident a direct Exam. If only you came along earlier we have a course running sunday, unfortunatly its full. The boat should be registered with OFCOM if it has DSC and a MMSI you need to change the licence details with them, as the MMSI goes with the vessel not the owner.

No worries ask away, MMSI Maritime Mobile Service Identity. It's basically the "phone No" of the Radio.

Welcome to RIBNET by the way

Cheers Brain,
I had a chat with John Homles (i think thats his name) about doing my pb2 or maybe pb1 for my son. He runs Blue Ride school.... bet you know him?
Cant afford it yet if im honest, but see the need for a bit more training.

Jon, your son can do the Level 2 course and have he's certificate endorsed until the age of 16. He can also do the radio course and have he's licence deffered until 16.

Have a word with Jimbo on here as he does DSC courses, and hes not too far from you either. He does a really good course and would reccommend him.
