That's not quite how it worked-but unfortunately he DID catch someone-One of Badgerboy's feedback left was for a 2nd chance offer. The scammer sent all bidders one. Have a read of this.

Ebay scam

Don't really care about neg. feedbacks. Turned him in to his bank. They put a hold on his account. Ebay UK has some real problems. I would'nt bid on anything from the UK Ebay and encourage everybody else to do the same

As far as I know all UK phone numbers are 11 digits long & all begin with a Zero,
08715 does not exist as an STD code in the UK.

uk std code search

Obviously the phone number is as genuine as the rest of this person!

Thats not a UK number- I suspect it's just random digits.

Ebay UK is OK as long as you've got a bit of savvy-but I wouldn't bother for high value items otherwise.

There WAS actually a legal precedent set in Australia holding Ebay.au responsible and forced them to give a full refund.(see link below)
Maybe it's time one of the fraud victims did that over here.

Both buyer and seller accusing each other so I think the "buyer" was trying to outscam the seller.

Still, well spotted in the first place.
Buyer wasn't trying to outscam the seller... Why do people assume that a scammer will tell the truth? I guess they are the ones that will get scammed in the long run.

Ebay scam

I didn't send him any "fake cheques". I told him his bank has a hold on his account and I'm unable to complete payment. Anybody can open up a bank account these days, even wetback Mexicans here can do it. They then send money to their compadres across the border. Banks don't really care and neither does EBay
