Well I just got a reply from him (via Ebay) so he hasn't given up yet.
The question was, how many hours. I got this reply: "this motor has been in use around 200-250 hours.
Thanks."

It's a shame that some poor sod has been caught.

I knew ebay wouldn't do a thing.

However any legal eagles out there? - Surely if we have alerted ebay to the scam and they didn't stop the auction then they owe the chap a duty of care and they will have to repay him?

OR, How about offering the same item on ebay! with a don't get caught by this scammer - people then may find two engines for sale and read the message?

It sickens me that a) this goes on and b) no-one does anything about it.

Tempting as it is, please don't publish anyone's personal details here.

We've already seen how people can get details wrong. In this case the emails just bounced, but it could quite conceivably have resulted in unpleasant emails being received by a completely innocent third party . . .

I'm sure that we can find ways of helping stop this sort of scam without bringing ourselves down to the scammers' level.

I don't think he did catch anybody. "Badgerboy" was the winning bidder in each case and, according to matey from Italy's feedback for Badgerboy, he sent fraudulent cheques!

Both buyer and seller accusing each other so I think the "buyer" was trying to outscam the seller.

Still, well spotted in the first place.
