Diesel fuel tank

Hello,

I bought really nice diesel tank which fit inside my console, just perfect...
There is just one small problem. My engine is for petrol....
Could you please tell me how to clean diesel tank and reuse it as petrol tank?
Is it something what might be done?

Thanks.

It's 70 ltr fuel tank and it will be around 4-5 ltr diesel inside.

I'd get as much as you can out and then just use it as is.

Many years ago I managed to persuade a Merc Blueband 20 to run on diesel......just . Was helping out with a rescue fleet, turns out the second tank I had been given was meant for their launch and not the SIB. Wind was strong enough not to notice the smell change as I swapped tank hoses across.... It smoked a bit!

Never did find out if it was premix diesel or not......

A word of Caution.

The small bit of diesel should not be a big problem, however, at the bottom of most diesel tanks you will find a small quantity of dirt and water.

I think you should siphon the tank out, rinse it with a few litres of petrol and empty that out as well. It's not a big job and might save you some trouble in the future.
