Brian, the only assumption I made was that 2700rpm gives around 22-25kts on a Redbay expedition....and that was not so much an assumption as an educated guess! 4 gallons = 18 lph is maths not assumption

What do you get at 2700rpm? Back in the Bravo 3 days she'd be pulling 25kts or so at that RPM? Is it less with the Bravo 1?

deisel Inboards

I posted elsewhere on this forum re the benefits of Deisel oppossed to outboards and I see from this thread that they appear popular in private use. Can I ask you all the pros and cons for deisel

a) Direct you to the FAQ section: Which is best: petrol engine or diesel engine?

and

b) Suggest judicious use of the 'Search' function where you will find much to answer your questions my young Padawan.

Boat weight - can you tow it?

Hello Craig

There are various replies all with different size and weight of boat. Probably the weight has the biggest bearing.

The boat you have (8.4 expedition) do you know the weight of the boat?
Have you towed it? do you know of anyone who has towed it?

Looking at one of these boats they seem imensly practicle for our cold/damp environment. Do you find the windows top rail set too low - to see out? It just looks on pictures that either the seats are set too high or the windows a fraction low?

Can I pm you for more info please.

My hands on experince of Boats is great ............Ribs just a little less internet absolutely useless!!!! now I have been pointed to how to search I guess I have enough reading for tonight. Thanking you greatly and by the way are you the Alan of the one who called in St Katherines with your Yellow Cabin Rib ? if so we escorted you up Thames !!

You're welcome for the assistance. No, I rather suspect you are referring to the one and only Alan Priddy and the late Spirit of Cardiff/Jolly Sailor, last seen somewhere in the North Atlantic. The boat that is. Alan Priddy, coincidentally has just been on the TV news here having sailed across the Atlantic in the Lively Lady. I am merely a former rib.net stalwart, fading slowly into the night...............
