I think you're correct. I'm sure it's not an RNLI lifeboat.

Numerous independent lifeboats in and around the Solent, RNLI took over cowes a few years ago hence the island-plastics rib was replaced with a RNLI spec rib. Was running twin 225's. not a bad rig, but as suggested previously it seems to be appreciating in value!

Was this post invisible ?? Lol

No, your post wasn't invisible, hence the reason why I was/am sure it's not an ex RNLI boat. Although, in my defence, the phrase "looks like" is a little less definite than "is" and therefore leaves room for debate!

FYI - the RNLI do have some other boats that they use as well, both for training and development - so if they sold one of those (which they occasionally do), it wouldn't necessarily fit into one of the 'standard' expected class of boat.

They've got a jet-rib in Poole that's been used for various jet related trials for the FCB2/Shannon over the past few years, some Hardy's for ALB crew training, amongst other things.

Quite so, but they are not "lifeboats" .

True enough, but as someone said earlier, the use of "RNLI" and "Lifeboats" are synonymous...

Other organisations also use Atlantic 75s and 85s, and the development Tamar Lifeboat is now a Police boat on the Thames...... just trying to point out that it's not always black and white...!!

The rib was built to the then RNLI spec by Island Plastics for Cowes ILB,never used by the RNLI...IMPRESSIVE BOAT! I have been coxswain on her for the Venturers couple of seasons ago,she did some good services, not best boat in shallow water ,I prefer jets for that type of work personally!
