Glad to hear you're ok in the end

Just a thought:
I have a gecko helmet, but I only really wear it when the weather's bad, to keep the rain out of my face. What are people's thoughts on whether a helmet with visor would have helped, or would the visor have broken, possibly making things worse?

The easy solution is remove the cause, ie the screen. The Atlantics used to have screens fitted but after a few broken noses the RNLI stopped fitting them.

My "screen" is a pair of Uvex wraparound safety specs as sold by most DIY / tool hire shops for about 1.50......

Good choice - if needed I have my old Ski googles or some cheap ones off ebay that I use when in the ringo so I can see whats coming my way .

I also have screens - but at least I have some foam & plastic that could take some of the 'hit' if I get it wrong .
