Day Skipper Practical!

Ok,

It is now time for another RYA course & so would like comments from people about this.

Questions are:
Where you did it (really needs to be south coast - not Devon),
what type / length of boat,
how many people on the course
how long it lasted

& lastly,

WAS IT WORTHWHILE?

Pete

Day Skipper Practical!

Did this course with "On Board The Power Sea School" http://www.onboard.org.uk

He's south coast based.

what type / length of boat: Nelson 34 (but I see from his web site that a second boat is now available)

how many people on the course: Two pupils (there had been a cancellation)

how long it lasted: 4 days

WAS IT WORTHWHILE? Yes, I thought so.

RYA Training

Hi Pete,

I did my Day Skipper Practical at The Portsmouth Outdoor Activity Centre. Reasonably cheaper than most private Schools; Run & sponsored by Local Council.

Deffinately worth doing, Pupil ratio was 3:1 instructor.

Good luck.

I'm doing it!

Well now booked up!

I have decided to do my 'Sailing' (sorry for swearing JK) Day Skipper Practical next week & my girlfriend is also doing her Competent Crew. This I feel, will be more of a challenge to both of us & will also involve her a lot more, than in a motorboat
.
So if someone waves at you from a 29ft sail boat - wave back

Will be back out on the RIB next weekend though.

No problem with that; it's being afloat that counts

It's useful to have at least a bit of knowledge about sailing as it gives you some chance of working out what they're up to when they start swerving around!

Thanks, R & L, P & K, JK etc..

I'm doing it with a company called Sail West. They 'were' the most flexible when it came to booking my time off (only booked yesterday). I don't know anything about them but will update you all next weekend.

If I had been doing a Motor DSP I would have used 1 of the companies on this forum.
