Is a lovely place.. am living there... parking can be tricky, best get in early especially if want to park near launch site. Just outside the entrance you can go along a little to a couple of nice beaches.
RIver has lots of places to explore and is a nice place in it's own right.
Nearest petrol station to the river is about 2 mins up the big hill so don't have to go far and is normal petrol prices.

We 'do' Dartmouth every year in a large group.

This is a couple of images from last year, with a few Bombard 380 shots in there.

Lots of variety for a sib ex Dartmouth - Lauch next to f Higher Ferry slip - they're meant to be widening it to 8m. Up river is navigable to totnes.
Dittisham good for a stop as is Maltsers at Tuckenhsy up Bow Creek (2hrs either side HW). now a pontoon at Stoke Gabriel, and Shaprhams vineyard is accessible from the river.

Out fd the river lots of coves accessible, but the range can be pretty choppy.

Brixham is a good alternate launch site to do Torbay & surrounding area

Thanks for the tips chaps. It's all booked now....four nights in the dart marina hotel combined with a bit of exploring by water. It's a whole new kind of boating for me as used to big hard boats and big Ribs. Keen to explore up to Totnes but also Salcombe and maybe Burgh Island if the weather is flat. Any more tips would be great!
