Cowes Inshore Rescue

When Cowes Ishore Rescue became Cowes RNLI , the Venturers Search and
Rescue purchased their 8.8 meter Rib. It is only just back in service after
somebody stole the ignition keys , and the 5 batter master switch keys
which were a none standard size green in colour which we were not able
to source a supply , and had to 5 new complete switches. Which being
fitted during build were not easy to get at. A more serious problem was
somebody poured dirty fresh water in all three fuel tanks causing
serious damage to the vunerable Honda Vtec system ,and the need to
remove the floor to clean out the under deck tanks , which set us back £3500.
However the purchase has proved good sense , as the replacement of
the heavy twin 225 with lighter Honda 150 has improved its handling.
With 62 rescue incidents this year so far.Although not sure who has a grudge
against our teenagers operating a rescue service with the Coast Guard
under Solas 5.

sorry to hear about that it's pathetic and vituperative, makes you wonder why.

probably a bit late but you could have got a fuel poishing service to do this for a fraction of the cost of removing the decks. I'd approach some of the local ones, they might be interesting in helping. not a bad thing to do on n annual baisis

Eurotank are based in southampto. I think the chairman id geoff wheeler

especially since from time to time you will tow people in who have a problem because of crappy fuel - and then you can give them some helpful local advice on where to get it polished.

How did some one manage to steal all 5 keys? Surely access is restricted?

Sounds like someone has it in for you and they also seem to know exactly how to cause maximum disruption for minimum effort. Good luck in the future, lets hope the perpetrators are just bored teenagers

That's what I thought.

With out a doubt it was a C**T's trick to pull. Hope it never happens again. That money could have been put to good use else where I expect.
