Cover for Avon Searider 4 metre

I have a 4 metre Avon Searider with a 45hp Honda 4 stroke. I am looking to buy a cover for the Rib hopefully one that incorporates the Outboard. I thought it would be easy to buy one as I see loads of 4metre Seariders out and about but apparently they are no longer in production so the covers "died" with them. Anyone got any contacts?

I have a 4.1m RIB, and am too looking for a suitable cover as the boat gets kept outside. The smallest cover I could find was 4.5m. Does nobody made a small boat cover?!

We have a custom over in our SR 4.0 tenderboat. Shame I don't have a photo with me while I am out of office. I will try to find a photo for you later on. The cover works great is a major shield regarding to city dirt and sunlight.

I use a large rectangular tarp and bungee straps to cover mine and I tow with it on without any problems. The tarp covers the bow completely so road muck is kept to a minimum.

I would have done that, but I was worried that the tarp might chafe the tubes in strong winds. Does a tarp keep out UV rays as well as a proper cover?

No chafing noticed (use lots of fixing places) and as for UV rays, it's a black tarp and it is very dark under it so if the little UV beggers get through they will have to go round and get in underneath!!

We couldn't find a suitable cover for our old boat and so had one custom made instead. Don't know of any contacts in England but the guy who made ours also was a sailmaker, so maybe you could start asking your local sailmaker, or failing that, I've also heard of people who make the curtains for truck trailers making very good custom covers. Cheap too!!!

That looks pretty good. How much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking!)

I think it was around 250 Euro but I'm not positive. It was made by a guy in Kinsale, Cork. Marshalls Marine Textiles is what they're called. Fitted the boat and engine perfectly. If you're covering your engine , be sure to cover the cowling with a soft towel of some sort. Otherwise the cover can make existing scratches on the cowling a lot worse by peeling the paint.

Have a flick through yellow pages under canvas goods and you'll find a number of firms willing to part you with your money. My local firm offered to make me a custom pvc cover for £250. A bit rich for me at the moment, but I have a big YELLOW tarp that I annoy the neighbours with.

Contact your local sail maker. The one here in Bristol made me a custom cover for my 4m Avon.. Sold it with the boat.

Was good strong and fitted like a glove. Simply left the boat with them for two days and hey presto job done.

I presume that it was a bit cheaper than the £900 Ribcraft cover? I will get an overall cover made down here when the 6.5 arrives.

It was on boatsandoutboards.com somewhere. Come to think it of it, it might have been that one above - it's for a 5m not 4.5m, sorry!

Try Ribcraft...01935 411846....
This is my boat, a 4.8 ribcraft, they also do a 4.2 and both boats are based on the searider hull. This cover was made by another manufacturer for ribcraft, I would think it would be a small leap for them to make one for a 4.0 boat of a similar shape/design
My cover was with the boat when i bought her so i have no clue as to how much they would charge. Maybe they would put you in touch with the people that made it so you could deal direct.
Worth a try mebbe
Cheers
Robin
PS...although this picture doesn't show it the cover extends all the way over the outboard too.
