Cornwall

Hi all, after we’ve been to Poole and Solent 4 times we want to try taking our rib to Cornwall.
Just wondering where best with a 6 year old and the wife?
We like taking the rib to beach’s and other marinas/harbours for lunch etc.

A lovely part of the world to take your boat to! Here's a recent thread with a few suggestions:

Yep Fowey has many plus points as it hardly dries, just the upper reaches which are fine for a potter at higher tides but not part of the main boat operating area. There are modern visitor pontoons at four different locations in the main estuary, each with one or more eateries adj. The entrance is kind at most tide/wind states.

Here is the thread where I asked for advice about Fowey and then reported on our two weeks there from post #24 on.

http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/sibbing...wey-78786.html

I have investigated the Falmouth area too with advice and a thumbs up given by folks here, the Mylor Yacht Harbour and adj holiday cottages looking very good.

Falmouth and Fowey both good options.
Falmouth being the better of the 2 as it gives you more options for exploration and shelter from most winds.
Not sure what boat you have but turn left out of Falmouth and you have Fowey approx 1hr 30min and lots in between including St Mawes and lots of little harbours to visit.
Turn right and you’ve got Helford 20 min away with lots of little creeks to explore.
You can even head up river to Truro on a rising tide. Speed limits apply on the way up but it’s an interesting little trip. You can visit the cinema on a Rib!

Hi - the links above walk you through Plymouth, Fowey, Mylor and Falmouth.

All work really well and are great for family trips with plenty of accommodation choices, when in Mylor we use - https://www.trecombe-lakes.co.uk and it's a great fun place to stay.

They aren't as cheap as a tent, but we've used them three times now and have never paid more then £500 for the week.

Plenty of room for trailers too.

We are staying at https://www.google.com/search?q=penm...0and%20camping

From 1st July for 2 weeks, taking our Rib too, Penmarlem boatyard/slipway just at the side of the campsite & straight onto Fowey estuary

I hope you have a good time in Fowey. During our two weeks last summer we got to know it well and it was one of the best coastal boating locations we've stayed in.
