Convert Bench to Jockey

Hi

I am looking at a rib ( Vipermax 5.5 ) that nearly ticks all the boxes except that it has a bench seat instead of jockeys for the passengers ( single jockey for driver ) . Has anybody ever converted a bench seat to a jockey i.e. rotated the bench through 90 degrees , moved it forward and added backrests . Would the bench seat be too wide for comfort ? . Would it be less work to buy an off the shelf twin jockey and fit this ?. Or just keep looking for the ideal package

Thanks
Tim

I would suspect the Bench seat would be too wide and too low to provide the nessesary support of a Jockey. Put the Bench seat on EBay and buy a new Jockey straight from Osprey, an 800mm moulding would be about £120ish.

Hi

Not a great picture but you get the idea .

I think the previous answer is correct in that it would be too wide and
uncomfortable , easier to install new jockey or keep searching .

Thanks

Tim, check out a picture of my layout in a Viper 5.25.

http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?...ight=danny+boy

As you can see I managed to fit a single jockey in by moving the bench as far back as poss. It is quite a good seating layout as when I need to I can seat myself and 3 adults on the boat comfortably also the storage in the bench seat is invaluable.

My boat had a white bench seat set as a jockey when I bought it and it did work ok although not ideal I sold this on ebay for £90 to help fund the new seats from Leeway.

Tim if you moved the bench seat back as far as it can go it looks like you ould even squeeze in a double although a single would be less tight.
