Console's

Hi, I am RIBnet virgin so be gentle. I have a question I hope you can help me with.

I'm looking for a new console for a 6m RIB. I would like something like a double console with a seat in the front. I have looked at 'Outhill Boatbuilders' website but don't know who else would do just the console! Any idea's and would any know what I could expect to pay?

Is the double console a good Idea or would I be better to have a jockey seat?

Thank you

I can't see how you stay on anything other than a jockey. As for consoles, i bought a very nice unit from Ocean Ribs, double jockey seat with back reat, steering and seat with a nice big cubby and hatch (big enough to just about get in) for just under £600!

They are based in fareham:

Winsor Marine Ltd
Unit 13 & 14 Wicormarine, Cranleigh Road, Porchester, Fareham, Hants

Oceans are good also try L&N on this forum, he makes a couple of tasty ones and is reasonably priced.

Thanks very much. I'll give them a try.

What about a Stainless 'A' Frame. I have thought about making one myself. We make boat trailers (Admiral) and it wouldn't take much to get them welded here. Is there any special requirement for them? What would you expect to pay? I don't know if it is worth the hassle or if it is easyier, quicker and cheaper to buy one.

Agreed. Make the tig welds chunky so that you heat a good bit of the surrounding metal. This will ensure it cools slowly enough to be annealed. Otherwise, you risk cracking at the edges of the weld when the frame flexes.
