Confused New Boy

Am thinking of buying 12 y.o. Osprey XR20 which appears to be in v.g.c.
but would ask if anyone knows of any particular problems that I should be looking for?
Rib comes with Yamaha 115 v4 outboard. Is this a good combination?
It comes with a few extras, f/finder, mapping G.P.S. etc. Any hints as to fair price to pay?
Any help most appreciated

No. Advertised from place near Kirkcaldy. Why? You sound dubious!

If its this one then it looks like a very nice and tidy boat from the pics. Tubes look good and it sounds like it has been well cared for.

I love Ospreys and this boat would really appeal to me if I were looking.

Hi Chris.
Thanks for reply.
Yes it is same boat as shown and I thought it looked pretty good. Will go and see it at weekend.
Any idea if price is reasonable? He's looking for about £9500.
Cheers
Ian

It looks brilliant. Engine is a bit old and will use a bit more fuel than a modern engine but what the hell. You can always treat it to a new engine later.

I was looking at a RIB yesterday with an old Yam 70hp 2 stroke. Next to it was a boat with a 70hp 4 stroke. The difference in size between the 2 engines was amazing - the 2 strokes are so much smaller and neater!!!

Ian,

I would say if you went along and waved cash under his nose you may get a few hundred quid off otherwise the price seems reasonable for this time of year.

Looks well smart. Try and get a Sea Trial if you can, this just makes sure everythings as it should be.

You could try waving £8500 around, but it's high season for selling boats and would think the the £9500 he wants would be very reasonable if things checkout.

Let us know how you get on, and best of luck

I'm going to be contravertial and suggest 9.5k might be a bit high! The Boness Sub Aqua Club are selling were 5.75m Osprey with a buy-it-now price of £3500. It was basically sound and pretty tidy, but needs a new engine but if you could get your hands on a 2nd hand engine you could have cash left to stick new seat electronics on it and still come in at less than 9.5k. As far as I know it didn't meet its reserve and so is probably still available.
