Confession Time

Well I suppose it is time to earn my Title given to me at the Solent Xmas Bash.

I have sold my Rib and bought a .................. hard boat

Wellcraft Excalibur Platinum Edition. 2004
She is 25' in length 8'4 beam, has a Volvo 5.7 V8 GXi inboard with Volvo DUO Prop, Stainless Props. 320hp. only done 32 hrs

The trailer is an SBS, twin axle brand new in 2005, been used once.

I also have before I get attacked a little 3m SIB no engine as yet but will have at some point.

Attached are some pics, I plan to get some more shortly when the Monster Wakeboard Tower is attached. What you can't see on the internal shot is behind the rear seat is another huge SunDeck about 8' wide by 5' Deep over the engine bay, plus fresh water shower.

Thanks, they are very comfy, plus if you wish to stand up and drive you can pull the front of the seat up and rest against it/sit on the edge so very useful.

I'm a convert the other way. Personally I would have gone for a closed bow, not so hot for wakeboarding, but a whole lot better in dodgy weather, dry storage area, kiddy cubbie hole, porta potti etc etc and great to kip in from time to time. Cracking looking boat though.

They slot into the back of the trailer as guides to align the boat with the trailer. There are sleeves to go over the top to save scratching all that "after force 4" stay in the Marina polishing!!!

Lovely looking boat Richard and I hope it all goes well for you. I too made the transition from RIB to Floating Lounge Bar last year and spookily also admitted my sins in a post called "confession time". If you follow the link you will see that I too recieved a mixed reaction.

http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9716

I have not regretted the choice at all and had a fantastic season with much more time on the water because my wife, family, friends etc love the comfortable boating a hard boat allows. In fact I am just packing a bag to go out on Saturday kneeboarding and skiing with some friends.

PS some of my local Ribbers still talk to me and let me cruise with them but I won't embarass them by naming them.

PPS I admit that one day I still want to own a dirty great big RIB to do some longer expeditions / trips.
