Condition check/inspection of RIB in Scotland

Finally have sourced a used rib that hopefully will get a new home in Gulf of Finland. Have jointly with seller agreed that it might be beneficial to have a third party opinion.

An official surveyor is one option but also an experienced RIBbnet member would be OK to give an third party opinion. No need for hyper detailed report but free form comments with a couple photos would be sufficient. Fair compensation will be paid for the job.

Boat is located in Glasgow area

So suggestions for survey co or members interested in the job, kindly PM me.

C-NUMB,

A couple of things you might want to include to help you find someone: (a) a more specific location, "glasgow area" could be quite broad (especially if he knows you're from Finland) - it could be an hour's drive from Glasgow (postcode?). (b) tell people what the boat is. if someone has specific experience of that boat / brand they might be more useful that a general person.

You are right, thanks. Dumbarton is the more specific location(approx 15 min from Glasgow).
The boat, what else can it be....its a SR 5.4

i live close to dumbarton..HOWEVER....i'm a rib newbie so i'm far from an expert but i've been boating most of my life.

if you only want a condition check i can maybe help you out there, or maybe some more specific pics etc. i wouldn't like to say i know enough about ribs yet to know a good un from a bad un from the name but happy to have a look for tube/hull/deck damage and let you know.

i'm far from a surveyor and subsequently i do not want held for anything should it not be what you wanted.

let me know and i can maybe help you if no one more qualified can do so.

just met hector-nice to meet you buddy.

had about 20-30 mins look round the hull paying more attention to the tubes as requested.

i will add pics in a while but to sum up-

engine started instantly-is practically new to look at. as requested i didn't pay much attention to it other than it appears very tidy and sounds fine.

no obvious signs of stress cracks in the transom.

deck looks ok visually but never went aboard as still in my work gear so owner can answer any questions there for you.

can't see any bad hull marks, hull has been antifouled so can't comment on under that obviously.

tubes-there are some patches here and there but all seem in keeping with the original look and look well done. there is some minor glue work required, about 5" long to secure the hypalon to the hull. this is roughly about 4ft back from the bow on both port and starboard, very easy fix i'm sure. there is a small spot about 1/2" at the bow underneath that you can see the fabric so a patch would be required there at some point but again an easy fix. i can't comment on if the tubes stay up-i'll let the owner answer that one to you.

boat overall has been looked after and if i was in market for one of these i'd happily consider it.

again please note i'm no expert but i hope this is of some use to both parties and good luck with the sale guys. if any doubts then a survey is always a good option.
