colour changes on tubes

Hi has anyone tried to clean tubes with thinners or acetone ? I have tried a small area with acetone and it really cleaned the area i put it on , it did make material sticky for a few seconds but then dried and was fine . Does anyone have any suggestions as i have tried everything to clean them but the problem is they clean up well but if i cover them with anything the tubes turn redish like they are burnt then i expose them to the sun again and they brighten up again with abit of cleaning (very wiered) by the way tubes are white and have always been in hot sun uncovered .
anyone ahve a clue ????

Search tool and a couple of hours should do you fine: I would suggest you start with reading the threads about:

Toluene,
MEK,
Thinners,
Acetone
and TFR

as well as looking at some of the floor polish threads for protecting them afterwards!

I would avoid acetone and just go with the RibShop Rib Cleaner.

Wiseguys

Might be worth trying this cleaner:

Followed by this protector:

They are recommended on the Revenger web site as being particularly good on white tubes.

I used Autoglym Super Resin Polish on mine yesterday, brought them up nicely then put a coat of Meguiars #16 Mirror Wax on.
The tubes are slippy now but it'll protect them whilst on its mooring.

It'll be used single handed most of the time so the slippy tubes isn't too much of an issue for me.
