Cobra 7.55 buying guide

Hey this is my first post, so firstly hi and glad to be a member!

We are looking at a cobra 7.55 and I'm wondering whether there is anything specific to look out for? I've read a few bits about check the transom, is there something specific to look for?

Thanks in advance
Rich

Welcome Rich,

I am on my third Cobra and very pleased with them and their people. I had a 755 with a 250hp Yamaha which was a fantastic boat. I never had any problems and certainly no issues with the transom. What engine is on the one that you are looking at?

perfect, didn't see why there would be any issues, its got a 2008 yam 250.
What sort of top speed would you see with the 250?

cobra boats have good and bad press. Some people used to report quite a firm ride. I've never been on one though. Only transom issue I ever saw was a 7.5 that we raced against in the lymington challenge in 2009 or 2010. Very rough weather and the saddle of the engine compressed the transom and split the transom partially through the pounding. It was an outboard well boat and I think most of the damage was cosmetic
