Interesting information:

Figures have been released disclosing the cost of running coastguard station buildings in the UK.

The Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) in Aberdeen was the most expensive with rent, rates, utilities and maintenance totalling £280,311.

Clyde had the second highest costs at £112,441 and

Forth was the lowest at £44,662.

But actually its all a bit meaningless if, as is the case, some of the buildings are owned and others rented. I also suspect that the size of the facilities may differ somewhat - so comparisons should probably be on a per sq ft or possibly a per employee basis. Its presumably all a bit of a story to try and argue why Stornoway CG station should be retained (since they seem to have requested the information) - of course it doesn't look at the projected future costs (e.g. if the building has no extra capacity to move to a new way of working etc) nor does it look at the potential releasable value of the fixed assets if they are disposed of...
