I decided that today would be the day when I'd give my cover a good old scrub.

Plopped it into the bath with some washing machine detergent and started scrubbing away, using a piece of marine ply straddling the bath tub. All was going well untill I started noticing lots of damaged areas that weren't that obvious with the cover on the boat.

It looks like the Sun has done it's damage and that a replacement will be needed in the near future. It's funny you know! The damaged area's aren't in area's where I'd expect to see it and away from console edges and seat backs etc.

I also noticed that once it had gone back on the boat and was pressure washing the cover down, there was damage caused by the pressure washer too.

So it's time to spend some money I guess

I have been thinking of those BBQ covers as seat/ console covers. cheap as chips on ebay & come in all sorts of sizes .

If I leave my Avon out on the water I cant get the full cover on it ( infact why did I spend 500 getting it made & I've never used it !)& I am fed up with the cushions soaking up the rain water !

I saw those and they looked Ideal, but they're too small for my console

When you opened them did you see who made the cover, as it does look like they do larger sizes.

I'm checking ebay now for sizes etc - the question is Andy - how big do you need ? ebay has all sorts of sizes - just think - is your boat like a big American BBQ ?.........

I'm lucky I've only got the std outhill seat & console in the Avon !

BBQ

I was looking on Ebay just now also. Haven't found the right size yet. I have a size 6 which has been modified with two chimneys for the masts. My thinking was for a size 7 as it's a bit wider on the beam and might mean I can forget the chimneys.

Got one cover in today- label inside- MADE IN CHINA, no manufacturers details, Ok for what they are intended for, will cover the 585 consul and possibly the double paired jocket seats.

I am surprised that there aren't more standard generic console covers for sale. In the Summer, they're a lot more convenient for covering up the vital bits if your using the RIB over several days.
