classic or stepped hull?

i saw some manifucturers in greece that the prefer the stepped hulls... usualy two steps on the 7m ribs... what are the advantages and dissadvantages of such hulls?

advantage is straightline speed, reduced friction, less fuel

disadvantage is can have poor cornering, may slip/barrel roll

most prefere atleast 2 steps as a boat can have a tendancy to pivot on the one and only step on a single stepped hull.
