'Cheap waterproofs'

With all this rain I wanted to get some waterproofs - coat and trousers.
Quick look around and I got some from Machine Mart. £19.19, now that's cheap.

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/dicki...rousers-large/

I liked the look of the Orange Bomber jacket £32.39 on line, but in the flesh, it's not a good look far too orange.

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/dicki...C=CR-040113240

I really wanted some plain old oil skins, but they are quite expensive.
I appreciate you only get as good as you pay for etc.. but I just want to leave the things in the boat and not have to worry about them being pinched or having to take more care of them, more than I care for the cat.

Any recommendations for the next pair.

Going cheap usually means non-breathable = Sweating (which defeats the purpose)
I have had luck with wet gear from Aldi/Lidl that was breathable and cost effective

Any cheap waterproofs I've owned eventually get wet from the inside out, sweat

Decathlon had some 'breathable' types of walking/boating clothing which seemed reasonable. I bought a jacket as a starting point https://www.decathlon.co.uk/100-mens...d_8387510.html I'm sure there's better out there but it does for now

Hiking clothing might do you, reviews will help and I'm sure more advice to come on here

As you say in this category you'll definitely get better quality with more £££'s spent! Maybe clothing outlets, end of seasons sale will snag you a bargain

Have a look for Fladen clothing.

Not super cheap but good value for money.

Good waterproofs last for years, I have a Musto HPX spraytop I got for £80 at the boatshow years ago, should of been over £200 and it's still going strong.

I've been travelling a lot for work recently, and as a co sequence buying wafi mags to while away the time. A few months ago there was an article about non breathable waterproofs- proper pvc stuff actually being better in some ways. Certainly if you are going to neglect it I would say that is wise.

I have a cagoule which is now at least 30 years old, is not breathable, and I wore it dinghy sailing a lot as a teenager, it no longer fits me (it used to fit over my Bouyancy Aid too!) but never got chucked as it was a useful spare for other people. It refuses to die.

I wear waterproofs most of the year, even in summer, the joys of living in the wettest part of the country.

Helly Hansen do some quite good "cheap" stuff, their pricey stuff is really good and hard wearing.

Check out the Ludvika range

Is that sarcasm?

It's been the wettest June on record here with x3 our average rainfall.

I'd suggest you go & have a look round some local camping & outdoor type shops such as GO Outdoors, Blacks etc.
Usually have a fair range & some of it very reduced price plus you get to look at & try on the merchandise.
Last two pairs of waterproof trousers I bought - earlier this year - were 1xBerghaus & 1xPeter Storm, I can't recall the price but I only went in for one pair & the price was so good I bought the two!

sounds chavvy but TK maxx occasionally have cheap waterproofs - i got a berghaus jacket earlier this year for about 15 quid and its been very good. the only issue is the stuff is usually odd sizes and funny colours.

For £125 (or £80 ish in the sale) you get a great pair of dry trousers and a top that can be used as a back up or spare

Great, some good replies. You don't really have to pay a fortune to get some good stuff as has been shown here. The £19 set so far have been ok, probably won't last long and as said, leave them onboard without worry.
