Straight from the box if felt, well...... cheap.
Which is what kind of attracted me and i suppose everybody else in the first place.
Two big negatives were: No wifi/ smartphone connection and no threaded hole under the camera to attach a tripod.

If i didnt have the option of a Gopro instead, i might have persevered with the silvercrest's niggles

I got one of the Silvercrest cameras for my birthday, tried it out on the boat for the first time over the weekend - I'm impressed with the quality of picture. Currently handheld by crew, need to consider how / where to mount for a more robust solution. Link to short clip heading out of Torbay here:

Cheap replacement for go-pro

Being slightly anal about liking everything in its place I bought a little Peli case from Lomo for my camera.

Everything in there including spare batteries and cards, safety lanyard and some sticky pads.

Silvercrest remote control

Yep, got one of these Silvercrest off ebay for £50 squids and did the first filming at the weekend and was quite impressed.

Alan where did you get the spare battery from for it?

I want to keep mine on the A-frame and am tempted to get the wireless remote - did anybody else bother with this as its a PITA running up and down the boat to operate it?

See unedited link here FILE0025 - YouTube

P.S. My mum was a bit cold and I hope I haven't put her off for life
