Channel Islands

Does anyone here live on the Channel Islands?

Is it an easy day trip from London?

Asking from like 3000 miles away!

Thanks!

The only way to make a day trip of it would be by air.

You will arrive, probably at Heathrow Airport.
Your best and quickest way to get to Jersey would be to fly, also from Heathrow.
Takes about an hour.
Hope you are not talking about a return to Heathrow the same day.
This would be VERY tight.

No way to get there by sea from London.

If you want to go by sea you will need to train to Southampton and get on the Jersey fastcat. But you wont want to do that do you?

Another way......... would be to contact a fellow ribnetter and prevail on him to take you to Jersey. It's a fair way, especially in a small boat....but would be fun! And would depart from, oh, anywhere along the south coast and be totally weather dependent.

Great, thanks for the info! (yes I was talking about the UK ones lol)

Are there any ribnetters who live in the Channel Islands?

More specifically, anyone who lives in Alderney or who would be willing to travel there?

Ah, Alderney.
Now then, that's even more difficult.
You can fly there from Southampton on Aurigny Airlines, or, or, you can fly there from Guernsey. But flying is the ONLY way to get there (by public transport). There is no foot passenger ferry service AT ALL.

The Jersey fast cat goes from Poole and the slow boat goes from Portsmouth, neither can get you there and back in a day. You can fly from Southampton, about 35 minutes each way and is doable but Alderney wouldn't be easily achievable.

There's a few of us CI based ribnetters. You can get flights easily enough from Gatwick or Southampton to Jersey or Guernsey. By boat you would need to have a very good forecast and a very fast boat to be able to do a return trip in one day. You'd also need quite a lot of stamina.
